CITY COUNCIL PAYS TRIBUTE TO MARCOPOLO’S FOUNDATION

Company was honored for the socio cultural development it promotes in the community for over 25 years

The City of Caxias do Sul held on Thursday, May 23, at the Session Room of the Deputy Nadyr Rossetti, a solemn session in honor of the 25th anniversary of Marcopolo’s Foundation. The tribute’s hosts were the President of the City Council: councilman Edson da Rosa and councilman Jó Arse, who was the one to propose the homage, as well as other parliamentarians.

During the ceremony the councilors made ​​pronouncements about the entity and its role in the social development of the communities of the city, the state and in the Brazil. At the event, Paulo Bellini, Chairman of the Board of Marcopolo’s Foundation, spoke about the history of the institution in its 25 years of activity.

The Marcopolo Foundation received honors for conducting programs to the employees of Marcopolo, their families and communities. These programs include the areas of culture, education, sports and leisure. 

As regarding the area of culture, the foundation contributes to the participation of employees and the community in different activities in order to promote social interaction, sense of belonging and the personal and social development of citizens. The Theatre’s Group, the Artistic Group, the Marco da Tradição CTG (Traditionalist Gaucho Center), the Tie-Down Roping Championship, the Children's Choir, the Youth Orchestra, the Musicalization and the Reolon Center for Popular Culture are instruments that gather about a thousand people around culture.

Still in the area of culture the project Recreate - Making Art Education, which has as main goal to encourage artistic and cultural expressions of children and adolescents at social risk, as well as providing a space for creation and free expression may generate opportunities for professional development.

In education, the foundation develops the project Everybody at School, which distributes kits of notebooks for the employees’ children from 5 to 18 years old that are enrolled at primary and secondary education. The Schools project aims to contribute to the development of the educational environment, school community relations and training for citizenship. The project has been developed in selected schools in the municipality. In addition to these two projects, the company also offers libraries in their units in Caxias do Sul and Rio de Janeiro.

The Marcopolo Foundation favors the participation of employees in various sports activities through internal tournaments and championships organized by SESI. Athletes can benefit from the infra structure of the Recreational Headquarters: soccer fields, seven-a-side soccer, beach soccer, the tennis court and gymnasium. The kids can train soccer at the children’s soccer school, which help to develop motor, social and citizenship skills.

Employees can also take advantage of the structure for the family leisure, which counts with the Marco da Tradição CTG (Traditionalist Gaucho Center), space for events, as well as playgrounds, gazebos and barbecue spaces. Traditional festivals, dances and tours are also conducted to promote well-being and enjoyment of employees and their families.

To the youth of the community, the Foundation promotes an annual event called A Happy Day, held in the celebration of Children's Day, with the participation of children and adolescents of the institutions involved in the School and Recreate projects. Volunteers from various fields, besides family, collaborate for the success of the event.

Created on May 25, 1988, the Marcopolo Foundation's mission is to promote social development in the communities where Marcopolo companies are present inside Brazil, by contributing to the exercise of corporate social responsibility internally and externally, from the perspective of sustainability. This week commemorative activities are being carried out with employees and the community to celebrate its 25 years.
