MARCOPOLO AUSTRALIA BEGINS OPERATION TO MARKET INTERNATIONAL BRAND OF BUSES IN AUSTRALIA

Goal is to introduce products with the technology of a global leader into the Australian bus market 

Marcopolo SA, a Brazilian company with international operations, and global leader in the development of solutions for transporting passengers, announces the formation of Marcopolo Australia. The new business will begin its operations from the end of this month and aims at marketing Marcopolo bus brands in the Australian market.

According to José Rubens de la Rosa, CEO of Marcopolo SA, the formation of Marcopolo Australia is part of the strategy of the Brazilian company to expand its presence in Australia and help meet the needs of transport operators in the country. 

"The acquisition of a 75 % stake in Volgren last year was the first step in building a presence in Australia. Our goal now is to launch world-class products, with different technologies and complementary to the current line of Volgren, to further strengthen our presence in the region and offer new options to customers”, says Mr. de la Rosa.

Marcopolo Australia will operate independently of Volgren and also provide after sales service nationwide. Mr. Gabriel Tesser has been appointed general manager and will be responsible for conducting all activities of the company.

"For us, the formation of Marcopolo Australia is an important step because it means that we will be selling our bus brands in one of the most advanced and demanding world markets. Our intent and perspective is to provide buses, highly competitive in technology, quality, robustness and operating costs, and establish the Marcopolo brand as leader in Australia", says Mr.Tesser.

World leader busbody builde

Marcopolo is one of the biggest bus body builder in the World with operations in 11 countries besides three plants in Brazil (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Colombia, China, Egypt, India, Mexico, South Africa, Russia and United States). The company produced more than 31 thousand units in 2012 and acchieved sales of almost  US$ 2 billion. With more than 20 thousand employees around the globe, the company has produced more than 360.000 buses in its history of 64 years.

Participation in Australia Bus & Coach Show 2013

According to Gabriel Tesser, the first official Marcopolo Australia product launch will be during the Australia Bus & Coach Show 2013 which takes place on 25th and 26th September in Sydney. The company will present in its stand, the first bus model which will be sold in the Australian market.

"We will begin operation by marketing models developed by our engineering team in Brazil, customised to the Australian market. This brings the technology, experience and expertise of a global leader in the production of buses that has already surpassed 360,000 units manufactured in 64 years of history" emphasizes Mr.Tesser.

The Marcopolo Australia stand at the Australia Bus & Coach Show 2013 is located in The Dome 112A – Sydney Showground.
