MARCOPOLO CELEBRATES THE PRODUCTION OF 400 THOUSAND BUSES

Record brand consecrates history of 66 years of success in Brazil and around the world

Marcopolo celebrated today, August 6, 2015, the production of 400 000 buses as well as its 66 years of activity. The 400,000 vehicle is a Paradiso 1350, designed within the advanced characteristics of the Paradiso family. It has been specially developed to offer operators of medium and long travelling distances in Brazil and abroad, more comfort, security and greater luggage capacity (up to 20, 75 m³).

The choice of Paradiso 1350 was because it is the latest road Model of Generation 7 launched in the Brazilian market. The vehicle number 400,000 received unique painting alluding to the celebration. Silver color painted, the bus represents a tribute to each employee of Marcopolo that, since 1949, have been transforming the company into one of the world's largest bus manufacturers. Its sides portray an adhesive "400 thousand #somosfeitosporvocês (wearemadebyallofyou)".

According to Paulo Corso, director of commercial operations and marketing of Marcopolo, the goal is to share this achievement with all the people who are part of the company and extend it, through social media, to all bus lovers in Brazil and all around the world.

The unique action also includes the distribution of a paper toy (paper model) of a bus to be assembled and creatively decorated by employees and their families and subsequently be posted on social media via the hashtag #somosfeitosporvocês (wearemadebyallofyou).

Designed and developed by the engineering department of the unit in Ana Rech, Caxias do Sul, the Paradiso 1350 is the first vehicle to feature the new more ergonomic and comfortable seats manufactured by Marcopolo, besides new internal lining, reading lights and toilet facility.

With external design and Marcopolo's Generation 7 identity, the Paradiso 1350 highlights important items such as optical set with in the direction and position LED lights - Daytime Running (daytime position lights), that increase safety while traveling as well as provide luminous efficiency and durability, reducing the need for replacement or maintenance.

The volume of 400 thousand buses manufactured by Marcopolo also demonstrates the fast pace growth of the company in recent years, in Brazil and worldwide. "We celebrated the production of 100, 000 buses in 1998. Fifteen years later, in 2007, we exceeded 200,000 units and in 2012 the 350, 000 units. Now, just over two years, we have surpassed the mark of 400, 000 vehicles produced. This also reflects the internationalization strategy of Marcopolo and the expansion of its operations in key markets worldwide," says the executive.

Success in Latin American roads

Although it has been designed and developed in Brazil, the Paradiso 1350 was initially manufactured at the Marcopolo unit in Mexico in order to meet demands of local operators for vehicles with greater luggage capacity and high standards of sophistication. Since the end of 2013, the bus model has achieved success in the Mexican market and neighboring countries.

In this short period, Marcopolo has manufactured in its Ana Rech unit, in Caxias do Sul, more than 100 units of the model for the use in long-distance travel between Latin American countries.
