MARCOPOLO COMPANIES RECEIVE ENERGIA+LIMPA PROFILE CERTIFICATION

Marcopolo SA, the biggest bus manufacturer in Brazil, and its manufacturing units, Marcopolo Ana Rech, Marcopolo Volare Planalto, Marcopolo Neobus and Marcopolo Rio, received the Energia+Limpa profile certification, developed through a partnership between the electric energy consultant Perfil Energia and Ecovalor, specialized in sustainability. The companies were distinguished by their initiatives in promoting preservation and improvement of the environment through clean energy in their manufacturing units.

The Energia+Limpa profile certification highlights companies that ceased emission of greenhouse effect gases (GEE) through contracting renewable energy in the Free Contracting Environment. Inside the Sustainable Profile Program, developed and managed by an independent audit and following internationally accepted methodologies, the companies are evaluated by their use of renewable energy.

The Marcopolo factories in Caxias do Sul and Duque de Caxias, in Rio de Janeiro, already employ clean energy. In 2016, the company reduced greenhouse effect emissions in more than 4.4 thousand tons.

“We work daily to develop sustainable processes and look to minimize environmental impact. We were recognized for replacing traditional electric energy with energy from renewable sources. The sustainability of our business goes through searching for environmental sustainability.”, explains Lusuir Grochot, director of industrial operations, continuous improvement and special projects in Marcopolo.

To meet the specifications for using renewable energy, Marcopolo monitors, in partnership with Perfil Energia, all the stages of the process, taking into account the cost/benefit ratio and the environmental impact, bringing positive results and the solid energy supply expected by the company.
