MARCOPOLO MAKES 6,852 BUSES IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER

Result shows a growth of 12% approximately

Marcopolo has just informed today (May 9th) the result of the first trimester this year. Company has produced 6,852 units in its operations worldwide and reached a net income of R$ 761,3 millions, growth of 12% compared to the same length of time last year.

Performance is a result from widening of Brazilian market, in coaches, cities, commuter segments, there is also a higher production figures in Plants, out of Brazil: Argentina, Colombia and Mexico Plants got highlight. According to Mr. José Rubens de La Rosa, CEO of Marcopolo, 2.293 were made abroad, 14.4% more than first trimester 2010. “This result shows that Latin markets keep being strong with a growing demand from our products. In Mexico, specially, in spite of sales increasing volume, figures are still below the ones in 2007, before world crisis” says Mr. De la Rosa.

In 2011, Marcopolo keeps its positive perspectives to meet net income consolidated of R$ 3,15 Billion, with a production of 29.300 buses in Brazil and abroad. Financing issues were long terms renegotiated by BNDES Bank, through FINAME-PSI (Investment and Sustainability Program), until next December, EURO-5 engine demand has been anticipated, it will start in 2012, it shall push domestic market in Brazil in the second semester.
