PERUVIAN MARKET STANDS OUT FOR BUS EXPORT

Transport operators in Peru acquire 165 new buses

In the first eight months of 2015, Peru has become one of the most important export markets of Marcopolo. The company signed contracts in order to supply 165 new intercity buses for some major transport operators in the country, which means an increase of about 30% over the same period in 2014.

"In recent years, Peru has been consolidated as one of the main intercity buses consuming market. Operators have invested a lot in quality, sophistication and security with the acquisition of buses such as the Paradiso 1800 Double Decker and the new Paradiso 1350," said Ricardo Portolan, the export manager of Marcopolo.

The buses acquired are part of a Peruvian ongoing fleet renewal program, which largely demands vehicles with two classes of services and greater transport capacity, such as the Paradiso 1800 DD and the Paradiso 1350. The buses that were exported to Peru were the Paradiso 1800 DD and Paradiso 1600 LD (108 units), the new Paradiso 1350 and Paradiso 1200 (48 units) and the Senior minibus (9 units).

"There are many requests for models with higher added value and advantages such as increased comfort and safety to passengers, as well as efficiency and low operating costs for operators," said Ricardo Portolan.

First-class Transportation

Among Marcopolo´s main clients, companies such as CIVA, Cruz del Sur, Ittsa, Flores Hermanos, Linea, Movil Tours and Tepsa stand out. They are responsible for the domestic and international transport lines of the country.

The CIVA Group, a traditional Peruvian transport operator, acquired 51 Marcopolo buses, from which 30 units are of the Paradiso 1800 DD model. The most prominent are the vehicles for the Superciva service, with 12 bed reclining seats at the bottom and 42 master semi-reclining seats on the upper floor, 2 on-board restrooms, air-conditioning and heating systems. The operator has also acquired a Senior Tourism vehicle, which will transport workers from a mine operated by the company Vale do Rio Doce in northern Peru.

Movil Tours renews its fleet with the newest model of Marcopolo

One of the main tour operators, Movil Tours, renewed its fleet with 42 units of the recently launched bus Paradiso 1350. The vehicles have air-conditioning system, on-board restroom, heating and bed reclining seats. One of the main characteristics of the Paradiso 1350 is its luggage space with the largest volume capacity of the market, with up to 20.75 cubic meters. The bus also features new seats, passenger service units, and on-board restroom. The new Paradiso 1350 was especially developed to meet the needs of the operators in medium and long distances travel. Internally, it presents high standards of comfort and security; featuring indirect LED lighting in the passenger’s saloon, which creates a comfortable and sophisticated environment. The passenger service unit has activated by touch LED-reading lights, individual air conditioning outputs, earphone plugs, sound control and integrated individual audio amplifiers.

In order to provide greater comfort, the new model has more space in the luggage racks with 3.8 cubic meters capacity. The vehicle is equipped with an advanced natural air exchange system and its central aisle is lined with wood, which provides better thermal and acoustic insulation. The air conditioning system cools the environment more efficiently because its new ducts are integrated into the roof. It has also a separate electric wiring harness for best performance. The bus coach features also a new screen on the ceiling that filters the air and prevents impurities from entering the passenger´s saloon.
