Marcopolo has recently completed the delivery of 31 new bus models: Viale BRT Articulated, Viale BRS Low Entry and New Torino for the urban transport operator of Caxias do Sul: Viação Santa Tereza (Santa Tereza Traffic Operator) (Visate). The vehicles will be incorporated into the fleet and used in the Caxias SIM (Integrated Urban Mobility System). The new city transport system with exclusive lanes will start operating in January 2016.

According to Paulo Corso, commercial director of Marcopolo, the city of Caxias do Sul is investing heavily in urban mobility and public transport. "Although the city is not a metropolis like the national capitals, it serves as a role model for all of Brazil as regarding the implementation of the best solutions for transportation", explains Corso.

The buses acquired by Visate are six Viale BRT Articulated units, two Viale BRS Low Entry units and 23 New Torino units. The buses, which went into operation immediately, will provide more comfort, safety, convenience and quality of life for the population of Caxias do Sul.

The Marcopolo Viale BRT Articulated is equipped with Volvo chassis. It is 21 meters long and has the capacity for up to 180 passengers. Internally, the new bus counts with more space and better ergonomics in order to increase comfort and safety of passengers. Bigger internal width associated with cozy armchairs in wider spaces, facilitate passenger movement and turn travelling into a more convenient and comfortable experience. The new bus model also has greater internal height, as well as speakers and ample space for advertising in its upper sides.

The Marcopolo Viale BRT Articulated is the latest model of bus produced in Brazil. Among other technologies, the new bus accommodates a motorized wheelbase in the first car, low greenhouse gas emissions, automatic transmission, disc brakes and EBS - an electronic control brake system that offers more efficiency and stability to braking. It also bears intelligent throttle control, a device that ensures that only the power required is used when starting, and recovering speed, which helps to reduce fuel consumption and low floor.

The vehicle offers a high standard of comfort and safety, air-blown system through the City Vent equipment, internal monitoring camera, ramp accessibility in the central doors, box for wheelchair, and two sets of double doors to landing as well as differentiated painting. Ideal for urban transport, Viale has a security system that stops it from moving if the doors open. It also meets all requirements of the existing boarding platform systems in the country, with 1,100 mm free span door option in front of the front wheel set and elevated floor, all adapted to accessibility.
